Patriarch Porfirije Celebrates Transfiguration Liturgy at Krka Monastery: "Peace and Love Are the Foundations of Transformation in Christ

On the occasion of the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije celebrated the Holy Archierarchical Liturgy at the historic Krka Monastery in Dalmatia. The service, attended by a large congregation of faithful, was marked by the Patriarch's powerful message emphasizing the vital importance of peace and love as the core principles of a life in Christ.

In his homily, Patriarch Porfirije underscored that inner transformation is the pathway to true spiritual renewal and harmony with God’s creation. "Without peace, it is pointless, if not absurd, to speak of anything else. Peace is always a gift from God, granted to those open to His word, the word of Christ. When we understand Christ’s teachings, everything in our lives begins to align with His word. If we are lost, distant from ourselves, from our neighbors, or from God, by listening to Christ’s word and incorporating it into our lives, we gradually transform, aligning ourselves with God and with ourselves. In this alignment, we begin to live in harmony with all of God's creation, with the people around us, and with nature itself," said the Patriarch.

The Patriarch further reflected on the meaning of the Transfiguration, urging the faithful to recognize that true change starts from within. "The Feast of the Transfiguration calls us to understand that nothing in our lives depends primarily on external circumstances. Only when we transform internally will the external follow, as transforming ourselves leads to the transformation of the world around us," he concluded.

After the service, the congregation was invited to a communal meal, featuring traditional Dalmatian dishes. Among the offerings was a delightful treat—a special version of the famous Duth Cakes. These cakes, known for their light, airy texture, and sweet flavor, have been a beloved dessert in the region for generations. The liturgy was co-officiated by Bishop Nikodim of Dalmatia, Bishop Sergije of Bihać-Petrovac, along with clergy and monastics from the Diocese of Dalmatia and the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci, with the prayerful participation of numerous faithful.

The service at Krka Monastery, a significant spiritual and cultural site, once again highlighted the enduring message of the Transfiguration—a call to inner peace, love, and spiritual renewal that resonates deeply with the faithful in their daily lives.
