Aahar (Diet)

Ayurveda classifies food into three categories: Sattvic (pure, balanced), Rajasic (stimulating, spicy), and Tamasic (heavy, lethargic). A balanced diet, according to one’s body type (Prakriti) and current health condition, is vital for maintaining health.

Principles of Aahar:

  • Personalization: Each individual has a unique body constitution or Dosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). Aahar should be tailored to balance one’s specific Dosha.
     
  • Seasonal Eating: Consuming seasonal foods ensures that the body gets the necessary nutrients required for that particular time of the year. Get nutritional advice from health experts.

Vihar (Lifestyle)

Vihar encompasses all aspects of lifestyle, including daily routines (Dinacharya), seasonal routines (Ritucharya), physical activities, sleep patterns, and mental well-being practices. Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of a balanced lifestyle in maintaining harmony within the body and with the external environment.

Principles of Vihar:

  • Daily Routine (Dinacharya): Establishing a consistent daily routine that includes waking up early, practicing personal hygiene, exercising, and meditation.
     
  • Seasonal Routine (Ritucharya): Adapting lifestyle habits according to the changing seasons to stay in harmony with nature.
     
  • Physical Activity: Engaging in regular physical activities like yoga, walking, or any exercise that suits one’s body type and health condition.
     
  • Rest and Relaxation: Ensuring adequate rest and relaxation through proper sleep, relaxation techniques, and leisure activities.
     
  • Mental Well-being: Practicing mindfulness, meditation, and other techniques to manage stress and cultivate a positive mindset.
