Mai Chau, nestled amidst the pristine mountains and forests of Hoa Binh province, is a breathtaking picture of nature and culture. This place not only stands out with its picturesque scenery but also preserves the unique cultural values of the Thai ethnic community. All of these elements blend together to create an ideal destination for those seeking peace and relaxation after the hustle and bustle of life. The lush green fields, the traditional stilt houses, and the friendly people will take you on a meaningful journey of discovery and experience.

Interesting places in Mai Chau

  1. Thung Khe Pass: Thung Khe Pass or Deo Trang Pass, located on National Highway 6, between Tan Lac and Mai Chau. This is originally a limestone mountain, formed during the road construction process. With a height of 1,050 meters above sea level, the pass not only brings a strong sense but also offers a majestic natural scenery, where you can see clouds floating among the mountains.
  2. Pa Co Fair Market: Pa Co fair market, held every Sunday morning, is one of the fascinating cultural destinations in Mai Chau. It is not only a place for buying and selling goods but also an opportunity for local people to meet, exchange, and trade products, especially for the Mong and Thai ethnic groups.
  3. Visit to Pom Coong Village: Pom Coong Village, one of the ideal destinations in Mai Chau, emerges like a peaceful painting amidst the green mountains and forests. The traditional stilt houses of the Thai people, with their hidden red tile roofs, blend harmoniously with the lush green hills, creating a sense of intimacy. When you set foot in Pom Coong Village, you will feel the fresh air, tranquility, and pristine beauty of nature.
  4. Explore Hang Kia – Pa Co: Hang Kia – Pa Co is located at the gateway of the Northwest, at an altitude of 1,200 – 1,500 meters above sea level, with clouds covering almost all year round. These are the only two Mong ethnic villages in Hoa Binh, nestled among four rocky mountains. Hiking up to the sky gate, you can immerse yourself in the white floating clouds. From November to April is the ideal time to hunt for clouds in Hang Kia – Pa Co.
