Law & Order: Chicago man sentenced for bad check in Chesterton - Post-Tribune The teller noticed Cration was on a watch list of people suspected of passing bad checks and that there was a discrepancy in his address on the typed check from a Michigan City business and on his ID. When Cration called his ride so the two people he said dropped him off could tell police he worked for them, officers heard them say they weren't coming because of police in the area, court documents state. Cration pleaded to Level 6 felony counterfeiting on Nov. 11, down from a Level 5 felony charge of fraud on a financial institution where he faced up to six years in prison. Gary man charged in Portage home burglary A Gary man faces up to 20 years in prison for a December 2013 burglary of a Portage home. David Shavon Woods, 21, of the 6700 block of Ash Avenue, is charged with the Class B felony. Woods was in Lake County until an Aug. 12 sentencing for another crime.
