There are several outstanding features of his approach towards the cold war and the Soviet Union that characterized his presidency. One major feature of President Ronald Reagan’s approach to the Cold war was the use of strength. He argued and suggested that peace could only be achieved through strength. In line with this, President Reagan heavily invested in the military; he allocated a sum of 1.6 trillion dollars for defense in 1981. He also expanded the United Stats Navy from 400 to 600 ships. He allocated a lot of money to the CIA in a bid to bolster the country’s defense sector which in his opinion, lagged behind that of Russia. He expanded the United States nuclear and conventional military capabilities extensively.…
