About this blog

This announcement follows rumors that the KEA would proceed with counselling for admissions to engineering and other professional courses despite the delay in NEET UG 2024 counselling.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) announced on 26th July (Thursday) that the seat allotment process for all medical and non-medical courses will be conducted simultaneously, but the process will experience a delay due to the ongoing NEET issue.

"Due to the delay in receiving NEET UG 2024 results from the National Medical Commission (NMC), KEA has decided to prioritize registrations for engineering and other courses. The last date for registration of option entry is July 29," the release stated.

Post Registration Process in KEA Counselling

  • Online Registration: Candidates need to register online on the KEA official website.
  • Document Uploading & Online Verification: Candidates must upload the necessary documents for verification in KEA Counselling. This process involves cross-checking the uploaded documents with the originals to ensure the authenticity of the information provided.
  • Uploading NEET UG Score & AIR: Candidates need to upload their NEET UG score and All India Rank (AIR). These scores and ranks are crucial in determining the seat allotment process in KEA Counselling. Accurate and timely submission of these scores is essential, as they significantly influence the seat allotment process.

Seat Allotment Process in KEA counselling

KEA will conduct the Karnataka MBBS seat allotment based on the choices filled by candidates, reservation criteria, seat matrix, and NEET UG 2024 rank and score. The list will include details of the candidate, NEET UG 2024 score, and allotted college and course. Once the seat allotment is done, candidates will need to choose from the following options based on their status.

Seat Allotment Rounds

The seat allotment process will be conducted in two rounds:

  • First Round (ONLINE)
  • Second Round (ONLINE)

Note: If any seats remain vacant after the second round, a mop-up round may be conducted online for all seat categories. Only candidates not allotted seats in the previous two rounds will be eligible to participate.

Round 1 Seat Allotment in KEA Karnataka Counselling

Seats are allotted in the first round based on the choices filled and NEET UG scores. Candidates have the following options post-allotment:

Post Round 1 Seat Allotment Choices

  • Choice 1: Admission

If you are satisfied with the allotted seat and willing to report to the allotted college, you can choose this option, accepting the seat and proceeding with the admission process.

  • Choice 2: Upgrade

If you are content with the allotted seat but aspire for a better one, you can choose the 'Upgrade' option. This allows you to retain your current seat while giving you the chance to secure a better one in the next round.

  • Choice 3: Free Exit

If you are not satisfied with the allotted seat but wish to participate in the next round, you can choose the 'Free Exit' option. This allows you to exit the current round without accepting the seat and participate in the next round.

  • Choice 4: Exiting KEA Counselling

If you are unsatisfied with the allotted seat and choose to leave the counselling process entirely.
