leela.sd: This asana is also known as 'Ugrasana'. 'Ugra' means 'Shiva'. Lord Shiva is believed to be the good of annihilation. So he is called 'Ugra' or 'the terrible'. As this asana is very difficult to practise, it is known as 'Ugrasana'.
